It was actually almost exactly a year ago that I announced that I would start offering workshops. I had never been so nervous about anything I’ve done in my business. What if no one signs up? Are people going to want to learn from me? And now here we are doing a recap of my third sold out workshop! What?? 

Pobody’s nerfect, err I mean nobody’s perfect (The Office, anyone??). Myself included. Wedding days are crazy, fast-paced, hectic and you are going to make mistakes! Period. Hopefully these won’t be detrimental mistakes that affect the final product, but even if they are- there are always lessons to be learned!

With my 2018 season fast approaching, it’s time for me to get all my ducks in a row before it gets started, which includes hiring my second shooters for the year! Second shooting is such a great opportunity for anyone looking to get more experience in shooting weddings! We are fast approaching the end of the year which means it’s time for one of my favorite blog posts of the year! Behind the scenes! But I’m not sure why I love doing this post as it is essentially comprised of a lot of really unflattering pictures of myself. Bad hair, caught-off-guard faces, RBF and all the awkward positions. Let’s just say there’s a reason why I’m on the other side of the camera on wedding days! 

When I first started my business, I was working a full-time job in addition to shooting 18-20 weddings a year. As much as I love this business of mine, I was pretty overwhelmed. All my time away from my day job was spent shooting or behind my computer screen trying to stay on top of all the editing! Something had to change.

In this industry, we’ve all heard the term ‘ideal client’. The concept is that of tailoring your business and marketing to attract that specific type of client you are looking to book. At first, this concept can sound a little snobby. Like you are only willing and wanting to work with a very specific type of person. But really this is arguably more for the benefit of the client than it is for you, the business owner. Allow me to explain.
