I’m so excited to be blogging my first wedding of the season! Katie and Thomas’ sweet Historic Post Office wedding was the perfect way to kick off my 2018 season! From the sweetest couple to the gorgeous cornflower blue details to the best gift from the groom to his bride I’ve ever seen! Just wait until you see what Thomas did for his beautiful bride!
When asked what Thomas loves most about Katie, his response was that she can name every NFL quarterback, their backup and what college they went. And while that’s not really what he loves most about Katie, it does speak to what he actually loves about her- her passion. Her passion for sports, family and people in her life. It was so easy to see how loved this couple is by their friends and loved ones.
Katie and Thomas’ story began at Virginia Tech. When Katie’s sorority did a “Grab your sister a mister” party, Katie’s best friend surprised her with Thomas as her date and he’s been her only date ever since! So naturally they are huge VA Tech fans (I find that anyone that attends VT comes out a die hard fan!) as demonstrated by the plethora of VT props at their photobooth AND a VT football helmet signed by Frank Beamer!
Katie and Thomas were married First Presbyterian Church then danced the night away at The Historic Post Office. Choosing HPO as their venue was extra special because Katie’s grandfather actually worked there when it used to be a actual post office! I have had such a great time getting to know Katie and Thomas over the last year and am so honored to have captured their big day! They are now enjoying a 2 week honeymoon that Thomas planned as a complete surprise to Katie! What a keeper!
Thomas put together the best gift I have ever seen! Months before the wedding, her reached out to all their married friends and family members with a series of questions regarding marriage advice. Including me! He then put all the responses together in a book that he and Katie can refer to throughout their marriage. Wow! I love the progression of photos as she realizes what he had done!
What a vision!
Proud papa!
These cornflower blue bridesmaids dresses looked beautiful up against the outside of the HPO!
Such a classy timeless couple!
Ah! Fave!
I love these gorgeous vases Katie used throughout the reception!
And she wrote these herself! So talented!
They were married on St Patrick’s Day, so of course they had to incorporate some green into their day!
Ready to party!
These two crack me up!
This painter was painting the reception as it went on! Just wait until you see the finished product! So cool!
And this isn’t even the finished product! She even painted the actual faces of the couple and family members! So neat!
