I love when couples choose a location for their engagement session that plays a special part in their story. Maybe it’s where they met, where they fell in love, where he proposed or where they just like to spend a lot of time together. The locations that we chose for Kylee and Ryan’s engagement session this weekend checked a few of those boxes! 

Being that the last time I was in the ‘dating world’ was when I was 16, I have no idea what it’s like to date as an adult. So I love living vicariously through the love stories of my sweet couples. The story of how Kylee and Ryan came together is a mix of the modern 21st century and a fairytale romantic comedy movie. Kylee was fed up with a series of awful dates from Match.com and was about to delete her account. Meanwhile, on the other side of town, Ryan had just created an account, saw Kylee’s profile and messaged her immediately. Luckily Kylee checked that email from her final Match.com suitor and they hit it off immediately. She also says that she loved the fact that he was 6’5″! 

And here we are today doing their engagement session! When we were discussing locations for their engagement session, one of the first places that came to mind was Libby Hill Park. This is one of Kylee’s favorite spots in Richmond and it is also where Ryan proposed! Then we discussed a possible 2nd location. Kylee mentioned that The Jefferson Hotel is a special place for them as Ryan works there and their rehearsal dinner will be held there. How perfect! 

We met up on a gorgeous winter afternoon in front of the stunning Jefferson Hotel. I am a little embarrassed to say that this was actually my first time there! I’ll definitely have to make it back for that famous brunch someday! After getting some shots in front of the hotel, we then headed inside to the balcony of the presidential suite! Just wait till you see it- holy cow!! Then we wrapped up the evening with a relaxing stroll through Libby Hill Park, while also taking some pictures along the way, of course! Can’t wait to do it all over again at their Richmond wedding this December!  Love that laugh, Kylee!  Had to grab a quick shot inside on the way to the presidential suite! What a gorgeous hotel! And then THIS! I mean….!!!  This overlook is the spot where Ryan proposed! How sweet!   These guys were giving my calves a good workout all night! Did I mention there are both super tall?!
