Pisa and Florence, Italy

pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5912.jpgNext stop on Europe trip is the last of our Italy cities- Pisa and Florence! After a quick stop at Pisa to see the leaning tower, we had a leisurely stroll through the streets of Florence. Even though it was a gloomy rainy day, our time in Florence pleasantly surprised us. We didn’t really have any plans, so we didn’t know what to expect. We just planned to get lost in the city and drink wine. But we just had the best time walking the streets, seeing the amazing architecture and lively markets. And everything is so close, so it’s pretty easy to see everything in one day! Definitely on our list of places to go back to one day!

First stop, Pisa!pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5895.jpgOf course, we got our obligatory picture with the leaning tower! I really wish I would have taken a picture of what was all around in this spot. The number of people trying to take the exact same ‘holding up the tower’ picture has me laughing just thinking about it! pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5894.jpg I was really surprised at how much that tower really is leaning! Pretty spooky!pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5896.jpg pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5897.jpg Then we hopped on a bus and headed to Florence!pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5898.jpg pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5899.jpg We saw a lot of amazing architecture and buildings during our trip, but I think we were both most blown away by the Duomo in Florence. It’s hard to say exactly why, but this cathedral is just beyond stunning. I think we circled it twice because we just couldn’t stop staring. Pictures really don’t do it justice!pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5900.jpg pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5901.jpg pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5902.jpg Apparently Florence is known for it’s leather goods! It was everywhere!pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5903.jpg This market was amazing! Why can’t I do all my grocery shopping here??pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5904.jpg pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5905.jpg pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5906.jpg We didn’t get a chance to see the real statue of David, but we saw plenty of replicas!pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5907.jpg pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5908.jpg pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5909.jpg pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5910.jpg pisa-and-florence-italy-via-mediterranean-cruise-carnival-vista-photo_5911.jpgUntil next time, Florence!
