Weddings and engagements sessions have taken me all  over Virginia and have allowed me to explore some really cool places that I wouldn’t have otherwise! That’s especially the case for Amy and Matt’s engagement session. With all the people I’ve known that have attended Virginia Tech, I can’t believe I have never set foot in Blacksburg until this weekend! And even though I was literally only there for their session, it was a pretty neat visit because we got to go into Lane Stadium all by ourselves!! No big deal! 

Virginia Tech is special to Amy and Matt for a number of different reasons, which made it the perfect place for the engagement session. You may be thinking that they both attended the school and that’s how they met, but it’s actually not! Amy received her undergraduate and graduate from Virginia Tech and fell in love with Blacksburg and Hokie football and now works for the school! Matt actually went to school in Tennessee and has worked in the college football industry for several years. He worked under the now Virginia Tech football coach in Tennessee and followed him when he came to Blacksburg. You can imagine that the fact that Matt worked for the Virginia Tech football team was a big pro for Amy when they first met! Now they both live in Blacksburg, bleeding maroon and orange together! 

We had scheduled this engagement session months ago as it lined up with when I would be shooting a wedding in Lexington that same weekend. But then the forecast called for rain all day. So we switched it to a sunrise session that same weekend to escape the rain! They were such troopers for meeting up with me at the crack of dawn for their session! It may have been chilly and windy, but it was so worth it! 






Their sweet pup, Lily, joined the fun too! 











Having a fiance that works for the Virginia Tech football team has it’s perks! The stadium all to ourselves!
