One year ago today, we got the long awaited email from our breeder that our new puppy had finally come into the world! Today is our sweet Charlotte’s first birthday!! Yes, we are those people that celebrate our dogs birthdays! They are pretty much our children, no shame in admitting it! 

It was about 2 years ago when we decided we wanted to get another dog. Henry was 2 years old and we felt like he could really use a buddy! Plus, we had puppy fever real bad! So we reached out to the breeder that we got Henry from to see if they had any upcoming litters that we could get in on. And they said they were actually breeding Henry’s parents again and there was one spot left on the list! It was fate! We loved that Henry would actually be getting a full sibling since they would both have the same parents! So we got on the list and waited. But sweet Willow (the mom) was taking her time coming into heat so it wasn’t until a year later that the puppies actually arrived! We joked that we waited longer for this puppy than you wait for a human baby to be born! 

A few weeks after they were born, we drove up to Richmond to see them for the first time and were in love! Corgi puppies really are the cutest thing! And our sweet girl stole our hearts right away! Then a few weeks later we came back to pick her up and bring her home! This past year has been such a blast with this new little addition to the family. She may drive us a little crazy, but she never fails to make us laugh. It cracks me up how Henry and Charlotte’s personalities are so opposite. Henry is chill, likes to do his own thing and is very obedient and tolerant. Charlotte is wild, crazy and can’t sit still. She always wants to play with Henry, even when he doesn’t want to. We were definitely spoiled by how easy Henry was, so we weren’t expecting all the sass and personality that Charlotte brought to the house! 

But adding this little girl to our family was the best decision! They bring us so much joy and watching them play and interact is always the best part of my day! So happy birthday to our sweet pup, Charlotte. Here’s to hoping that your sass never fades, but maybe the accidents in house do! 

So let’s take a stroll down memory lane over this last year. Looking back at these pictures, I can’t believe how small she was! So adorable!

Here are Henry and Charlotte’s parents! Willow the mom (left) and Harley the dad (right). It’s easy to see that Henry looks exactly like his mom and Charlotte looks more like dad! And here’s our sweet girl when we first met her at 4 weeks old. So precious! Oh my gosh! Like a little teddy bear!  And this was the photo that the breeder sent us a week or two later. Growing so fast! And here she is a 7 weeks ready to go home!  Saying bye to dad before heading to her new home.  Oh my goodness, melts my heart! One thing I miss about her puppy days is how much she slept!  Ahh it’s so crazy how much smaller she used to be in comparison to Henry!  From day one she loved to annoy her big brother at all hours of the day. She always wants to play!  Play with me! Play with me!  Then we entered the precious one-up-one-down phase. My favorite! Then those Dumbo ears finally popped up!  Getting so much bigger! 3 months old here. Then I got lazy and stopped taking real pictures of her, so here she is at 7 months! What a heart breaker! And then here she is at 1 year old! She wasn’t in the mood to be photographed this afternoon as you can see.
