When I think of DC, I think of pretty monuments, lots of tourists and lots of traffic. So when Kelly said she wanted to do her engagement session at the National Arboretum, I got to explore a whole different side of DC! I had no idea this little oasis even existed! Not only was it a gorgeous location with beautiful scenery, it was also where Paul proposed! So it was the perfect location for their engagements!

Kelly is another friend of mine from my cheer days at JMU! Last week, I mentioned that Katie had my back, so I guess you could say that Kelly had my… feet? The cheer people out there know what I mean! Kelly was always a ball of energy and joy and just such a blast to be around! I was so excited when she asked me to photograph her wedding next fall! It was so great to catch up during their engagement session! These guys are so easy going and fun to be around!

Kelly and Paul’s love story began back in 2007 when Paul first laid eyes on her at Kelly’s cheerleading practice. Paul tracked her down through their mutual friends and they’ve been inseparable ever since! Paul popped the question last winter here at the Capitol Columns in the National Arboretum. He says that it was without a doubt the happiest moment of his life when he knew that he officially knew that he would be spending the rest of his life with his best friend and love of his life. So precious!!

We met up on a beautiful fall afternoon at the Arboretum. I had never been here before, but seeing as how it is the national arboretum, I assumed it would be quite beautiful. And it certainly was! Not to mention Kelly and Paul were such naturals in front of the camera! They were killing it from the very first shot! See for yourself!   How epic are the Capitol Columns?! This is where Paul proposed!  FAVORITE!! Swoon!!  The necklace belongs to Kelly’s grandmother and she will also be wearing it on her wedding day! I have to say, I’m slightly jealous that Kelly’s hair looks this perfect after just being blasted by the wind at the columns! haha!  So sweet!!  Kelly, you are so gorgeous!!
