I’ve always heard that if you have big dreams that you want to happen, then you got to put it out there for the world to hear! During my time in the wedding industry, I have become aware of some amazing Virginia wedding venues that I didn’t even know existed!! Where have all these amazing gems been hiding?! I’ve been lucky enough to have already had weddings at some of these beautiful places and there are some that I would still LOVE to shoot at one day! I’d love to expand into other parts of Virginia, like Charlottesville and Richmond, and explore some of the amazing venues those areas have to offer! So I’m putting it out there and listing a few venues that I have had my eye on and would love to shoot at one day!!
Pippin Hill Farm & Vineyards. Go big or go home, right? I think the beauty of this Charlottesville Wedding Venue speaks for itself. I think it’s on every Virginia wedding photographer’s bucket list!
Norfolk Botanical Gardens. This amazing little garden gem is right in my backyard! Norfolk Botanical Gardens offers a beautiful variety of garden scenery for weddings! I even did my own bridal session here when I got married! I think the Renaissance Court has to be my favorite spot! :)
Half Moone. Here’s another one that’s close to home! I think it’s literally about 2 miles from our apartment. I assisted Amanda Hedgepeth at a wedding at Half Moone last year and thought it was just a really neat and different waterfront wedding venue! I’d love to go back one day!
Hermitage Museum & Gardens. And here’s one more that’s right in my stomping grounds. I had never been to the Hermitage Museum until we went to see the light display this past winter. It has the most beautiful grounds full of gardens, courtyards and waterfront views! Little did I know that it was a popular wedding venue as well!
Destination Wedding. Now of course this isn’t technically a Virginia wedding venue, but I think it deserves to be on the list! I think every wedding photographer dreams of being asked to shoot a magical destination wedding. Whether it’s a tropical destination or perhaps somewhere in Europe, having the opportunity to travel through my business would be a dream!!
Here are a few places that I have already shot at, but would love the opportunity to go back again!
Trump Winery. Last year I got to second shoot a wedding at Trump Winery with Lindsay Fauver. This place is simply stunning!! I mean look at that backdrop! It’s like a painting! Can’t beat these kind of views!
Inn at Warner Hall. Shooting Ellen and Phil’s wedding at Warner Hall this past may was just a dream!! This southern estate is stunning!! From the gorgeous plantation estate to the endless fields of tall grass and golden light, I was in photographer heaven! There’s still so much there that I would love to explore!
Wren Chapel. This little chapel sits right in the heart of the campus of William & Mary and right down the street from Colonial Williamsburg. The chapel itself is gorgeous with plenty of beautiful natural light streaming in. And the location offers endless opportunities for portraits! I could’ve shot there for hours! The horse and buggy that Amanda and Stephen rented for their Wren Chapel wedding this past June was an awesome added bonus!
So those are of few locations that I’ve had my sights on. Some of them may be a reach, but I didn’t get into this business to dream small! Can’t wait to see what the future holds! :)
