I have been on the hunt for a good pair of flats for weddings days for what seems like forever! Finding a cute pair of shoes that you can shoot a 10+ hour wedding day in is truly a challenge! Wedding days are full of brisk walking, climbing, running and everything in between- all while carrying a bag of camera equipment over your shoulder! I think I wore a different pair of shoes for every wedding last year because I was always trying out different pairs. But without fail, my feet were so achey and full of blisters at the end of each wedding day. I asked around in Facebook groups about people’s go-to flats for weddings, but nothing worked for me. Shoes that worked for other people just didn’t work for me, for whatever reason. Then Tieks came on the scene. I wanted a pair of flats that were comfortable, while still cute and can go with anything, so Tieks definitely fit the bill. They were all the rage, especially amongst the wedding photographer community. A pair of flats that you can comfortably shoot a whole wedding in is as good as gold for us! I was hesitant to try them out simply because of their price point. At almost $200 a pair, I didn’t want to try them out just for them to be another failure. But people had nothing but good things to say about them so I gave them a shot. Once I got them, I had a lot people asking how I liked them. So now that I’ve shot several weddings in them, I feel comfortable giving them a review!
When I first got them in the mail, I was definitely impressed with the packaging! They come in a cute little blue box with a flower wrapped around it. These are definitely not your average Target flats! In the package, they actually came folded in half, demonstrating their flexibility and ability to stash in your purse easily. I tried them on and they felt great, but most shoes do when I am just wearing them around the house. So I wore them to a few outings and they still felt great. But I still wasn’t completely convinced that they would feel that way after a whole wedding day. Then I gave them a real test and shot my first wedding of the year in them and I was very impressed! Out of all the flats I’ve owned, these are BY FAR the best! No blisters! That felt like a miracle to me! My feet were still achey at the end of the day, but definitely not as much as usual. They don’t have any arch support, so I bought some Dr. Scholl’s arch support inserts on Amazon and that really helped! So after having shot several weddings and sessions in them this year, I can give them my stamp of approval! Like I said, my feet still don’t feel great at the end of the day, but they are leap years beyond how they used to feel! Plus, they are really cute and come in every color imaginable! I ended up buying them in Cream and Black so that I would have a pair to go with essentially any outfit. I will say that I have heard that the metallic colors can cause blisters as the fabric is more stiff. The ones I have are matte and have not given me any issues.
So that’s my two cents on my experience with my Tieks thus far! I’m so glad to finally have a pair of flats that I can comfortably wear for a whole wedding day! Here’s a few behind-the-scenes shots of them in action! P.S. I took the close up shots of the actual shoes after having shot several weddings in them, so don’t mind how dirty they are! haha!
For those of you that have Tieks, what are your thoughts?!
