This engagement session has been a looooong time coming. Even before Hillary and Chris were dating! Hillary is the little sister of one of my best friends, Emily. You may remember her Atlanta wedding from a few years ago! I’ve been friends with Emily since high school, so Hillary is basically like a little sister to me! So we’ve all been patiently waiting for the right fella to come along for Hillary so I could capture another Nichols gal’s wedding! And that time has finally come!
It’s not often that I know about an engagement before it happens, but in Hillary’s case, I did! Hillary knew the proposal was coming soon, so she reached out to get my availability for the following year to make sure I’d be able to photograph the wedding once the date was set! Her own siblings didn’t even know she had reached out- it was so hard to keep it to myself! Then Chris managed to actually surprise her with a proposal surrounded by her family at a beautiful vineyard! Then the wedding plans got rolling for real!
First step is the engagement session! We settled on one of my all-time favorite locations- Colonial Williamsburg! This is also where we did Emily’s bridal portraits a few years back! So many cute little gardens, buildings and always amazing light! I’ve had Hillary in front my camera a few times before (family pictures, her sister’s wedding), but I’m so excited that I finally got her and her fiance in front of the lens for engagements!! So imagine my excitement for when they are a bride and groom next year!! Hillary has been waiting to be an Audrey Rose Bride for a good while now, so when her turn finally came, she made sure she was the best bride she could be! She studied her bridal guide front to back making sure she did everything right in preparing for their session! She and Chris even practices their ‘faces’ on the car ride to the session! And I’d say that it paid off! They totally nailed it!
OBSESSED with her ring!! Stunning! Good job, Chris!
Hillary said she did plenty of ‘studying’ via my blog posts leading up to her session and said that this walking pose was one of her favorites! I think they nailed it!
Let’s just say I really went to town with these ring shots with all the pretty flowers in this cute garden!
