I’ve been looking forward to shooting Hillary’s wedding since before she was even dating Chris! Hillary is the younger sister of one of my best friends from high school. So since high school, she has felt like a littler sister to me! And her family always treated me like one of their own! So when I started my photography business years ago, she would always tell me that I would be photographing her wedding one day, even though she wasn’t even dating anyone at the time! So when she and Chris started dating and I saw how happy they were, I knew it was just a matter of time before I got that fateful message from her!
And that message came even before she was engaged! With Chris being in the military and Hillary being the Type A planner she is, she started planning her wedding before the ring was even on her finger! I felt so special being in the loop even before her family knew she was planning her wedding! And Chris actually still managed to surprise her with his proposal! Bravo!
It’s so clear how important Hillary’s family is to her based on all the special little details of their wedding day. The best one being that her dress was made custom out of her mother’s wedding dress! When she was telling me about this her exact words were “I’m hoping that some of their marriage rubs off on us, because GOALS.” And if you’ve met Mr. and Mrs. Nichols, then you’ll know how true that is! She also had the comb of her veil adorned with the flowers that were in the flower crown that her mother wore on her wedding day. She also used an heirloom mirror that belonged to her father’s grandmother and a perfume bottle that belonged to her mother’s grandmother! And she also included Chris’s family in a few special details like serving limoncello during the reception (his family’s favorite beverage) and half of their first dance song was sung in Italian paying homage to Chris’ Italian heritage!
Clocking in at 13 hours, Hillary and Chris’ wedding was that longest that I have photographed to date. But because this family felt like my own, it didn’t even feel like work! I felt like I was watching my own little sister walk down the aisle to marry her prince charming! It was such an honor to not only witness this special day, but to also have been trusted with documenting it!! I couldn’t be any happier for you, Hillary and Chris! Love you both so much!
In case you can’t tell, I’m a little obsessed with her ring!!
Also, if you know me at all, then you know I was drooling over her neutral and taupe color palette!! Swoon!!
I just love how Hillary was looking back at her mom the entire time she was slipping into the dress she had made out of hers. It so clear how much this girl loves her mama!
I think they approve!
Time to get their girl married!
Such a gorgeous church! Give me alllll the white walls!!
Oh my goodness, this moment as Hillary’s parents watched them say their vows and she puts her hand on his face. See what I mean about marriage goals?!
Her mom’s initials and wedding date next to Hillary’s! So sweet!
Dunked oreos! So clever! And yummy!
I’m loving these soft focus images lately! So romantic!
Ugh! You are so gorgeous, Hillary!
Had to sneak a picture of my own in with this girl! Love you, Hillary!!
