The Outer Banks is one of my favorite places in the world! I’ve been going every summer with my family since I was born! Now that life is a little busier, we don’t get to make it down as often as we’d like. But when Ashleigh asked about doing their engagement session in the OBX while they were down there with their family AND it happened to line up with the week that Branden had off from work, it was kismet! So we grabbed the dogs, headed down early and made a day out it! And it was perfect! 

The story of how John and Ashleigh met is like something out of a romantic comedy. Ashleigh’s friends invited her to a party, but Ashleigh didn’t know anyone there. Her friend was running late, so she decided to wait outside in the Boston cold until she arrived. But as she shivered out in the cold, John came down from the party to invite her inside and struck up conversations with her so she wouldn’t feel awkward at a party not knowing anyone. She was immediately taken by his charm and here they are 4 years later getting married! 

We had a gorgeous evening in Kitty Hawk for their engagement session! Which was a welcomed surprise with all this rain we’ve been having! With how much I’ve been to the Outer Banks, I can’t believe this was actually my first engagement session I’ve done down there! Being there for just a day is so bittersweet! We didn’t want to leave! But we had such a great time hanging out with them during their session. Since we had the pups along with us, they kept wanting to get in the shots! So for all the waist-up shots, just imagine some corgis walking around their feet! Can’t wait for Ashleigh and John’s Pippin Hill wedding this fall!!
