One of the main purposes of an engagement session is to capture the unique relationship between the soon-to-be bride and groom as it is right now during this special season of their lives together. So I always strive to capture the authentic dynamic between each of my couples, because each couple is a little different. But Kathleen and Alan made it so easy for me to capture their fun, loving and easy-going relationship! They even brought some bubbles to use for the shoot to really show off their fun and goofy side! I don’t think I’ve ever laughed and smiled so much during a shoot. I’m thinking that that is just the effect that these two have on people!
Kathleen and Alan met while at a student showcase at University of Maryland. Kathleen actually graduated with a degree in Computer Science, just like me! You definitely don’t find many girls in that field! Kathleen and Alan’s relationship is full of joy, laughter, goofiness and is surrounded by a group of equally fun friends. So when it came time for Alan to propose, he reached out to Kathleen’s cousin that dabbles in photography to set up something epic. They all got together under the pretense that her cousin wanted to practice some nighttime long exposure shots. So after doing a few fun shots, they did one more of Kathleen and Alan where he surprised her down on one knee with the ring! And this special moment was captured in an awesome long-exposure shot where they are surrounded by streams of light! What an epic way to capture this special moment!
We had Kathleen and Alan’s engagement session scheduled for a few weeks ago. There were going to driving down from DC and when I checked the forecast it said 30 and windy. Not exactly ideal for their beach engagement session! So we made the last minute decision to reschedule for this past weekend. And things just always seems to work out for the best as we had the most gorgeous 75 degree afternoon for their sweet and fun engagements! All the elements were working perfectly together that resulted in a LOT of new favorites images for me! Great light, a super sweet and gorgeous couple and 2 of my favorite local spots to shoot! If they are looking this amazing at their engagement session, I can’t what to see what we get from their wedding this fall!! Kathleen, you give me all the ‘envies’. Hair envy, skin envy, model face envy. See what I mean about there being a lot of fun and laughter in their relationship? I think they could’ve played with these bubbles all afternoon, if I let them! Imagine my delight when we get to the second location and Kathleen walks out of the car wearing THIS!! I mean…!!! Kathleen loves the romance behind elopements up against beautiful natural landscapes. So the second half of their session kind of mimicked that!
