Weekend Update

norfolk virginia wedding photographer thanksgiving and christmas updateHappy Holidays, friends!! What a wonderful time of year! Family, friends, food and all things cozy and Christmas! This is one of my favorite weekends of the year. Thanksgiving day followed by the official kick off to the Christmas season!

For the past 4 years, Branden and I have come up with our own holiday traditions for this weekend that we’ve been doing since we got married. Going to a midnight movie on Thanksgiving day, pulling out the Christmas tree the next morning while spending the whole day watching holiday movies and doing all things Christmas. But now that Branden is in residency, we’re getting used to a life of not always having the flexibility to these traditions. He had to work Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving weekend this year, so our usually traditions wouldn’t happen this year. He worked the night shift through the weekend, so he was able to attend one of our Thanksgiving dinners in Yorktown before heading into the hospital for his shift. We’re slowly but surely getting used to a new lifestyle of making the most of the time we are given together!

After a weekend of spending more time home alone than I care to admit while Branden worked, we finally had a day off to get a tree! We’ve always done a fake tree, but this year we decided to do a real one! Can you believe that the lot we went to was already mostly sold out?! The Sunday after Thanksgiving?! People don’t mess around! But we still found the perfect symmetrical and full tree that fits perfectly into the corner of our living room. When we first bought this house back in May, I have to admit the one of the things I was most excited about was decorating it for the holidays! I’m already loving how it’s coming along! We did run into snag where I seriously underestimated the amount of light strands needed to light the whole tree. So until I can run back out to Hobby Lobby to get more, we are enjoying a half lit tree! Oops!

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving full of family and great food! The holiday season is going to be a unusually busy one for me with 2 weddings and a full schedule of engagement sessions! Wishing you all a wonderful holiday season full of pine scented candles, twinkle lights everywhere, Christmas music and more!
